601 hardship waivers, which must be filed for almost any individual who has been in the US without authorized status for longer than 6 months or one year and who wants to apply for US Permanent Residency (Green Card). Such individuals are subject to a 3 year or 10 year bar on returning to the US and must file a 601 Waiver. This waiver application must be contain evidence proving their sponsoring US citizen/Permanent Resident spouse or parent will suffer extreme hardship if the individual is not allowed to immediately obtain their visa.
